Uncharted

Nathan Drake's whole run in order — Drake's Fortune through Among Thieves, Drake's Deception, A Thief's End and The Lost Legacy — plus the remasters, and the two things fans are still quietly hoping for.

Nothing in development

Naughty Dog has not announced a new Uncharted. The Lost Legacy in 2017 is still the last new game in the series — everything below the line is hope, not news.

The beginningReleased

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

Naughty Dog left Jak and Daxter behind and invented the modern cinematic action-adventure. Nathan Drake, a wisecracking fortune hunter claiming descent from Sir Francis Drake, chases El Dorado across an uncharted island with journalist Elena Fisher and mentor Victor Sullivan. Cover shooting, climbing and set-piece storytelling all clicked here, and the trio at its centre carried the entire series.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Widely regarded as one of the greatest games ever made. Drake hunts Marco Polo's lost fleet and the fabled Shambhala across Nepal and Tibet, opening on a train carriage dangling off a Himalayan cliff. Among Thieves nailed traversal, added competitive and co-op multiplayer, and won a stack of Game of the Year awards — it is still the benchmark the whole genre is measured against.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss

Bend Studio's Vita launch title is a prequel set before Drake's Fortune, following a younger Nate into Central America on the trail of a lost Spanish expedition. It leaned hard on the Vita's touchscreen and rear panel for climbing, charcoal rubbings and photo puzzles, and remains the only mainline-adjacent Uncharted not made by Naughty Dog.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception

Drake's Deception dug into Nate and Sully's past while chasing the lost city of Ubar through London, France, Syria and the Rub' al Khali desert. It is the most spectacle-driven entry of the PS3 era — a burning château, a cargo plane collapsing mid-flight, a cruise ship capsizing around you — with a hand-to-hand combat overhaul and a much deeper multiplayer suite.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection

Bluepoint Games rebuilt the three PS3 campaigns for PS4 at 1080p and 60fps, with improved textures, lighting and controls, plus new difficulty modes and photo mode. Multiplayer was dropped to focus entirely on the single-player trilogy, and the collection became many players' first route into the series before A Thief's End landed.

The finaleReleased

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

Nate is pulled out of retirement by his presumed-dead brother Sam to chase pirate Henry Avery's treasure at Libertalia. A Thief's End is the series at its technical and emotional peak — wide semi-open Madagascar driving, grappling hook traversal, rope physics, and an ending that gives Nathan Drake a genuine, final goodbye rather than another cliffhanger.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

Originally planned as story DLC, The Lost Legacy grew into a standalone adventure starring Chloe Frazer and Uncharted 4 antagonist Nadine Ross hunting the Tusk of Ganesh through India's Western Ghats. It is tighter than the mainline games, with the series' most open hub, a genuinely great buddy dynamic — and, as of today, the last Uncharted game ever released.

Uncharted 5

There is no Uncharted 5, and Naughty Dog has never announced one. But the dream that refuses to die isn't a Cassie-led spin-off or another Chloe adventure — it's Nathan Drake himself strapping on the holster for one final job. A Thief's End gave him the perfect retirement, yet fans keep hoping something pulls him back: a lost lead Sully can't chase alone, a family heirloom Cassie stumbles into, or one last treasure hunt where father and daughter scale cliffs and crack jokes together. The pitch is simple — Nate returns, maybe alongside Cassie, maybe with Sully watching his back one more time, and the game sells itself as the definitive last ride.

Nothing official · Naughty Dog maintains A Thief's End closed Nate's arc

What fans want

  • Nathan Drake returning as the lead, not just a cameo
  • A father-daughter dynamic with Cassie or one last Sully team-up
  • PS5-powered set pieces matching Uncharted 4's Madagascar chase
  • Still unannounced — Naughty Dog says Nate's story ended in 2016

Original Trilogy Remake

The Nathan Drake Collection was a remaster, not a remake — Drake's Fortune in particular still plays like 2007. Reports say a ground-up PS5 remake of the original Uncharted was genuinely considered inside Naughty Dog as early as 2018, but The Last of Us Part I took the slot instead and the Uncharted project was shelved. A full trilogy rebuilt in the studio's modern engine, with Uncharted 4's traversal and combat, is the single most-requested thing in the series' community — and completely unannounced.

Claimed shelved in favour of The Last of Us Part I

What fans want

  • Drake's Fortune rebuilt from scratch, not upscaled again
  • Uncharted 4-era traversal, rope physics and gunplay across all three
  • Reportedly passed over for The Last of Us Part I back in 2018
  • No studio, no platform, no date — pure wishful thinking for now
